We all sit
glancing at nothing
staring into everything
Yet the pendulum swings
We see each other
as we did the day before
and unassuming evermore
Yet the pendulum swings
Birth, death, love, fear
have ebbed through each of us
time and again
Swings
Constant is this moment
day after day
year after year
Swings
A tepid taste
of time a waste
so evenly paced
Swings
Then she smiled
a sly grin
deepened one dimple
then the other
her eyes sparked
from the fire within
Sw
A smirk becomes chuckle
she steals our attention
from the mundane
as she guffaws
ings
She swipes a tear
“There’s nothing funny.”
uttered what we all thought
Swings
Her eyes twinkle upward
smirks awry trying to subside
then explodes another giddy spew
Swings
All sounds now swept
as she withdraws again
back to what we fools call
normalcy
Resumed the pendulum…
