Listening with deaf ears
To the voice of old memories
I am lost inside the spinning light
Of a soul which once was mine
Little bits and pieces of days
Long since gone sour
Like poorly aged wine

But once I saw your eyes
Those beautiful sparkling embers
Silver-gold
My memories told
Of what they meant to me
With words stronger than love
And a power greater than God
I felt the pull of merging souls...

...until you look away

It had been so long since last we spoke
But your words still linger in my ears
I saw your face
So filled with hate
For what I did or did not do
With nothing left that I could say
I'd slowly turned and walked away
And left behind the one I thought
I'd be with all my life

But once I saw your eyes again
Those gorgeous glowing jewels
Silver-gold
My memories told
Of what they'd meant to me
With words stronger than love
And a power greater than God
I felt the pull
Of merging souls...

...until I walk away
