The miles passed
The thoughts laid
upon each table
understood...
accepted.

It's hard
to walk into
the future
with so much
of the past carried...
alone.

Perhaps...
we should shed
a few of the memories
Let them go where they may.

Perhaps...
we should form a bond
of knowing each other's
hurts
wants
and mistakes
And take each
upon the other
and let each
go as they may.

Perhaps...
we should
try and find
a place
a light
a glimmer of hope...
born from our understanding
of what was
and is
and could be.

Perhaps...
one day will start
with a dawn
that drowns out the dark
and each can smile
once again.

Perhaps...
we will be there
for each other
when that time comes
Perhaps...
perhaps.
