Consciousness escapes me,
yet I'm still awake.
My acute sense of reality
as I swirl into dreams,
magnifying everything and nothing.
Yet only I can see
sitting in the silence.
I hear behind me the symphony
playing the tune of my past,
sweet and melancholy with
grand movements of passion.
I am blind to all,
yet see hope in the future.
Blindly, I piece it all together
with each joining, a piece falls.
The world lies before me,
and dreams dance on my fingertips.
Allusions to the future,
the woman that drifts on the edge
of my heart, dancing at the edge
of my senses.
I reach out in wonderment
and the phantasm slips through
my outstretched hands.
I'm once again conscience of life
that I wish to escape.
for when reality escapes me
these dreams, they scare me,
yet they haunt me.
The sweet shimmering of her face,
preoccupies my every thought.
She lives within me.
The phantom of my heart.
