Please Give Me Time

Please Give Me Time

My tears flow free.
I'm drowning in my grief.
I know you understand, accept my pain,
But still, there's no relief.

I'm sorry I've confused you,
Bewildered your emotions,
With silly schemes, wishes, dreams,
And other crazy notions.

I ache for what?
I do not know.
Perhaps for what I'd hoped we have,
A budding love to grow

I am so very lonely now.
Ashamed at how I feel.
Your quiet mood a sign, I fear,
Of words you must conceal.

Words you cannot tell me,
For with their pain I'll wilt.
But how much longer can you hide them,
With your need to free your guilt?

I worry how much longer,
How much longer you can take,
My mournful moody cries of love,
With your family at stake.

I am so very sorry love
For any pain I've caused,
My love for you will never cease,
But my selfishness will stop

Please give me time.
I'll be your friend,
A friend you'll always trust.
Just give me time
To make things right,
Because I know I must.

I must because
If I do not,
I'll lose your love so dear.
Just give me time,
Because to lose your love
Surely is my greatest fear.
