Pleasure and Pain
Ah, the dualities of life.
Male and female.
Day and night.
Rich and poor.
Happy and sad.
Pleasure and pain.
How do we know one without the other?
How do I know I have experienced happiness
if I have never been sad?
Such it is with pleasure and pain.
How many times have you felt aroused
to the point of pain?
And yet it felt so good, did it not?
So...pleasurable.
Pleasure and pain are one of the few dualities
so closely linked.
One often leads to the other.
There are pains that can be a pleasure to feel.
And there are pleasures that can be exquisitely painful.
Many of life's most basic experiences
are both pleasure and pain,
mixed so closely
it is hard to tell when the one ends and the other begins.
Oh, how I love to feel that pleasure
that is pain,
and the pain that is pleasure!
Please, my love,
take me there.
