These are ignoble lies that can assuage,
Assuring her she's unready, unfit;
They compromise her and will not be quit
While it's uncertain whether she'll engage;
These senses she's contained hardly protect,
They just restrain, until she's pledged to suit
The hopes she has within, which won't take root
Unless passion instills and can reflect
The dream she has that all will come to be:
It sparkles in her mind's eye as she sleeps,
So, when she has no need for artifice,
This puts an end to her hesitancy;
And the craving to love unhindered leaps
To vault with truth and end ignoble lies.
