Thick clouds gathered above me, unexpected clouds of liquid longing.
I could not have guessed how drenched they would make me.
I could not have imagined how I would dance naked under thunder and lightening.
I was split by the storm...its fingers tearing me open.
It left me shattered in a flood
of unknown waters carrying me to darkened places.
And then you grasped my hand and pulled me from the torrent
into your abundant warmth.
Though it was your own deluge you were saving me from,
I let you lead me through the rain and wind,
their monstrous power rocking us both,
to where a sun was setting gold in the horizon.
And then I knew,
the storm was born from me as much as you.
It caused avalanches and tornadoes.
It quenched valleys forgotten by the rain.
It carried life to lands where no seeds had grown.
It created turbulent nights
that dawn into mornings of impossible goodbyes.
