Five days a week for many years you've stood
And greeted me when I walked through the door
By kissing me, a daily ritual
That still calls forth its magic without fail.
You'd think that we would vary some detail
But we ourselves change, so it can't get dull.
The repetition makes me love you more;
Why change our ways when all we have is good?

From our farewell caress at dawn's first light
Until we kiss again when I return
Until I hold you close and doze at ten
And sleep in peace and warmth and love all night;
Same old same old but always more to learn,
You make me still the happiest of men.
