Prey
His chest opened to her,
It opened deeply and bled for her.
His heart leapt forth
Escaping the shallow confines
Of his shallow, human bones,
And into her vast warmth.
Her beauty was unsurpassed
As the wind whipped her hair
Around her majesty.
She took his love, his heart into her hand
And drank of it.
All his adoration and vitality
Poured through her dead flesh.
The wind was and illusion.
Her majesty and love was just a merciful thought
Projected at the small mind
Of the dying man as he slipped away.
Falling to the floor
Like so much forgotten meat.
