I could not keep

Promises to stand
Not to fall down at your feet

Promises of dry eyes
I promised I wouldn’t weep

Promises cloud my mind
Your words disturb my sleep

Promises whispered
Before I knew my heart

Promises broken
I fall apart

Not sorry for the promises
Not sorry for the tears
Not sorry for my pain
I’m sorry for your fears

Your voice like music
Soft and sweet
Promises broken
My heart still beats
