The world is often like the storms of winter.
Cold and cruel,
Destructive in its vengeance,
Desiring to destroy any small vessel
That ventures into its domain.

Yet, in every storm there is safe harbor.
Peaceful and calm,
Soothing in its comfort,
Offering protection from harsh winds
Within the confines of its boundaries.

You hold me close with your words,
Your heart provides comfort from my storm,
Your arms a barrier against ill winds,
Your caring fills me with courage
To face another day against the storm.

You say your desire is to hold me in your arms,
And lie awake by my side,
And keep the world at bay
While I rest and sleep
Secure in the safety that is you.

Yet you are already my protection.
You are my escape,
You are my caring,
You are my inspiration,
You are my passion.
