Rain in My Heart

byNymphonan©

This poem along with several others, were written for a very dear friend who was in a long term
abusive relationship. It was my way of trying to help her see the truth of the relationship and
give her the courage to leave.

I woke up this morning
The sun was shining in my window
But there was rain in my heart.

The time drew closer when he'd return
I saw you crumbled and crushed
And there was rain in my heart.

The clouds rolled in
Claps of thunder and lightening bolts
And there was rain in my heart.

I saw the pain in your eyes
Heard the tears in your voice
And there was rain in my heart.

The sun was not bright enough
The sun was not warm enough
To stop the rain in my heart.

Only the stars in your eyes
And the sunshine of your smile
Could stop the rain in my heart.
