Rape of a Childhood

Yours see only a pretty child
but hers are knowing,
far beyond her years,
but she won't tell you.
Of dreams shattered
before blossoms opened,
buds gone un-nurtured
trampled in the mud of fear.
She'll smile but never meet your eyes
to acknowledge contact
she's learnt, is where dragons lurk.
But she'll won't tell you.
