Oh Lord everyday how I try try try try tryyyyyy
To put my life back into centrifugal motion
But the failure of this day pushes the best of me
Face down onto sidewalks of procrastination

And page by burning page each passing day turns
Until one day we turn and reach the end of our book
I wonder will I ever learn to turn with life's burning tide
Inside this resistance backed by temporal existence

So I keep askin' why I'm reachin' grabbin' and holdin'
Onto anything below me that'll try to ground me
Especially if all this reachin' grabbin' and holdin'
Onto fleeting days is what's weighing me down

Oh Lord help me get my life back
Before it goes off the tracks
And there'll be no turnin' back
After it veers straight off the tracks
Headlong into a life of perdition

Oh Lord I know dancing with ghosts is no good
But sometimes I need diversions from reality
That lie at the shore of life's river of temptation
'Cause I could use some deviation from my situation

And with apologies delivered underneath redemption
I'll throw wayward wants aside reach for hope's truth
With forgiving hands that gather remains of repentance
As I strip away resistance down to a bare bones existence

Damn I'm so tired of reachin' grabbin' and holdin'
Onto promises delivered like a badly spent sermon
But maybe all this reachin' grabbin' and holdin'
Will pull my soul out of life's gear stuck in neutral

Oh Lord help me get my life back
Before it goes off the tracks
And there'll be no turnin' back
After it veers straight off the tracks
Headlong into a life of perdition

Oh Lord I know what I would've could've should've
On lost days that slipped through cracks in time
That are stacking up like promises inside closets
As life bleeds out sins of unpromised yesterdays

And everyday I'm learning with my life in yearning
Pushing my soul through skin with careworn hands
Trying to break free from this cage built around me
To shatter resistance and reveal my true existence

So to hell with all this reachin' grabbin' and holdin'
Onto time dissipatin' into thin air before my eyes
'Cause all this useless reachin' grabbin' and holdin'
Onto emptiness has torn my life and dreams apart

Oh Lord help me get my life back
Before it goes off the tracks
And there'll be no turnin' back
After it veers straight off the tracks
Headlong into a life of perdition
