Fingertips bleed
As they grasp onto reality
And the devil laughs
While he fucks the sane man's mind.
I slipped once
And fell into this mess;
Now I'm drowning in the lies that aren't mine.
I seem to almost remember
What it was like
To be once and truly innocent,
But then we're all struck from the womb
And tainted with the ugliness of life.
No use pretending
That hope is real,
No use pretending
That tomorrow's ever gonna come.
Right now is all we've got
And it ain't much
But I'm not ready to give up my fistful.
You want to start a change?
You want to start a war?
Just open your mouth
And try letting the truth come out,
If you can ever find it
Buried beneath the fabrication of life
That stinks of shit and lies.
The only way to make it
In this crumbling world
Is to wrap your bleeding fingers
And take what they give,
Just as long as you remember
That it's what you already held
In your empty hand.
