"Nothing that is not love"
Of course that would be the one-sided kind
I guess I'm to further make an ass of myself
As you brush me off with dry witticisms
And lure me back with literature of longing

Defeat my spirit
With words of deceit
In the guise of all that I hope for
Then punish me when I need a human touch

"I miss you, can't you tell?"
No, I can't.

Then you take offense
Logical thinker, you
I'm left without defense
Self-loathing too

You really touched me
To feel free again, a fantasy
What your angle is
Always hidden so deftly

As you bid me adieu
with your final harsh act
In that moment of vulnerability
More real, more clear than
anything you've indicated
I knew that I truly loved you
and I knew that it bounced off a cold heart
To slap me in the face
