Thirty years ago
On this 18th day
God smiled upon me
And told me to stay

He wasn't quite ready
For me to leave this Earth
So on this very day
He granted me a rebirth

I guess somehow He knew
That my job was not quite done
I was needed here for something important
Namely a daughter and a son

For if He took me then
This world would never have seen
My two beautiful children
Who are now 21 and 16

For having them in my life
Is worth every moment I endured
Every test and pill and procedure
That led me to be cured

So even though there's already a day
With turkey and cakes and pies
November 18th will always be
Thanksgiving in my eyes
