Red-Eye Flight

Middle of the week
I'm thinking of a girl
I met on an airplane
that turbine engine whirl,
whining in our ears
on a dark cloudy night
on the way to somewhere
late red-eye flight,

Both drinking coffee
too wide-awake to sleep
casual conversation
nothing very deep,
you were heading home
I was heading to a meeting
we were crowded in the back
sardine coach seating,

We started our decent
you casually commented
did I have a place to stay
a room already rented,
my hotel was on
the way to your house
you offered me a ride
a deal, but nothing Faust,

With just carry-on
we quickly found your Prius
down the road you drove
conversation between us,
turned a bit more personal
things we liked to do
'you're a interesting lady'
you said you liked me too,

Pulled into the parking lot
the place was not a dive
you asked to use the toilet
was a quarter past five,
came out of the bathroom
asked how I was feeling
I'm not sure which of us
had the deck we were dealing,

Both had two aces
and three of a kind
I like aggressive women
you were certainly my kind,
you undid the buttons
of your blouse and slipped it back
stepped out of your skirt
and smiled my smile back,

Stood there in your underwear
took six steps my way
said you weren't too sleepy
and I said that was ok,
I took off my shirt
undid my traveling slacks
those are the details
those are the facts,

We spent about an hour
in that hotel non-suite
both of us commented
we were very glad to meet,
we took a shower afterwards
washed each other's skin
made small-talk about
meeting sometime again,

You put on your panties
your bra, skirt and blouse
said you needed to
drive to your house,
you had things to do
I had a meeting to prepare
we kissed at your car
ran my fingers through your hair,

I watched your tail lights turn
onto the highway, south
the feel of your lips
still present on my mouth,
"Strangers in the Night"
that old classic tune
rattling in my brain
the sun would be up soon,

I like this one a lot.

This is a solid narrative poem with lots of detail that's very engaging. I swear I could smell being on that plane with you. Keep writing as well as that and you'll be a hit.
