REFLECTION
Standing in the field, the wind
whips her hair all around.
Her face turned up to the sky,
she looks at the stars and asks herself:
“Why?”

The winds of change are coming,
enfolding her like a lover’s arms.

Scenes from her past appear before her,
Giving a tentative response to
the question she asked.

A storm has come;
the debris of pain and confusion,
swirling around in the maelstrom.

The rain falls down from the sky,
fertilizing her soul with hope and promise.
The grey matter is no more.

Turning her head she views
the valley below her,
lush with gardens of vitality and renewal.

Filled with a strength long laid dormant,
She looks back and says goodbye,
taking her first steps to a tomorrow promised her.

A rainbow makes a rare appearance and she laughs,
running down the hill to embrace her future.
