The Heart hurts
The Soul cries
Not just for one
But both.

The tears become
As a raging river,
Ever-flowing,
Never ceasing.

The Eyes sting
The Stomach tightens
Not just for one
But both.

One stands at the doors
Looking out, wanting to
Get lost in the wood
Just beyond the porch;
And hugs the hurt to her
Trying to hold it at bay
Trying to make it stay
Inside.

Lost, alone, without warmth
The one she loves
Has let her go
The one he loves
He had to set her free
Even though they both agreed.

Nothing wrong was done
What was wanted just
Could not be... right now.
It only makes the pain
Worse to hold on to the
What if's and If only's.

Released. Both with love
And still in love
It doesn't make it easier
To bear.

The Hearts still cry
I love You
Only silently now.
There is no loving echo
To be felt or heard.

Maybe someday soon my love
In a very special reality
We can reach for each other
In the night
Never to release you from
My body, heart and soul
Again.
