Remember the days when men were all the same?
When we still thought the stars were for us to wear
Like snails wear shells—
We were so sure
We knew our lives
Mapped in front of us with a velvet certainty
That spoke of our arrogant blood and our manifest destiny
The days when oxygen was right and true
Are gone and we walk the shores of ammonia seas
Remember the days when God lived in Heaven
Smiling at us, his children on His palm?
Before we moved into his house
And found it empty and hollow
Killed Him with cold stones of faith.
Remember the days when we lived in hot and crowded squalor
And bred like dogs, all breeds the same?
My house was your house, my world yours
Remember the days when we were human beings, pink and quick?

Pink human thoughts

Great imagery throughout. My favorite is

"When we still thought the stars were for us to wear

Like snails wear shells"
