Remembering Love

Perhaps one day
We'll meet again
I truly hope to ease the pain
The pain in my heart
I have felt since you went

Forever I'll remember, and never forget
The love we shared, but never together
Except for a brief while
Long, long ago ...

While I sit, I remember
The good times we had
But they seem never to come again
I remember still
Your words, your actions
The way you looked and held my hands

You caressed me and called me your 'fool'
I was mad, but what did that make you?
You held me tight, your lips on mine
Forgetful of time ...

But all good things must end
As we walked slowly home hand in hand
Talking like old friends
But, even they must part ...
