You were
light of my life

not incandescent
(for that would burn out)

nor yet fluorescent
(long cold and blue)

but more like a candle
wavering, smoky, but

not a candle, either, after all
as finally they melt

which you never did.
No, you were just light

or when reflective
the moon.

I loved how you kept coming up with images that weren't good enough until you finally came up with one that was, then you topped it. Very nice.
