A torrent of emotion
once raged between my banks
until the Thirsty siphoned me dry;
My bed cracked, my flesh ached;
all but the wind abandoned me.

Then a storm from the North
showered me with reciprocation,
and eased into the desiccated crevices
of all my private places.

Parched for more, a glutton for longevity,
I received him completely
and loosed my mystery
until our wellsprings merged
and fed the other;

Satiable, insatiable;
Sustaining in Perpetuity.

beautifully done

Thank you for sharing this with us. Wonderful word play and in my minds eye, i can clearly see both a river bed and a woman rejuvenated through your artistic word play.

BRAVA!

This poem leads to...

...cotton-mouth of the worst kind. The rest of me was hot and wet, though. Very nice work, McK. I love how vivid the imagery was between nature and the human. So palpable even while moving from one to the other seamlessly. Really gorgeous poem, love.
