She sent me a text:
whatcha doin’? I’ll come by,
with a bottle of wine
and a Saturday sigh,
She pulled out the cork
kicked off her shoes
poured us each a glass
it was half-past two,

The wind was blowing
yellow leaves from the trees
she was wearing summer shorts
with tan summer knees,
We talked about travel
we’d both just returned
with things we forgot
and things we learned,

Later I made dinner
and we ate it on the deck
she gave me a kiss
actually, just a peck,
We talked about the future
talked about the past
what we each wanted
and what would never last,

I found another bottle
it opened with a twist
we discussed many things
we could and could not resist,
Gravitational attraction
real, or make believe
she got up to go
but she didn’t leave ….
