Yesterday
we fought to snatch a breath
against the swift-moving
current of attraction...
a hard, fast ride
on that old roller coaster.

Today
we reach for deeper breaths
inside the heart-thumping
drumbeat of desire...
a high, hard ride
on that old roller coaster.

Tomorrow
we'll catch calming breaths
down the last rolling
final slide...
a soft, slow ride
on that old roller coaster.
