petal by petal
i strip you bare
eating each leaf
as i go deeper
savoring
tasting
thinking of the things i can do
with all your parts
the ways i can steep you
the smell of your flesh
to anoint myself with
the stem i can weave
the paste i can take
to make my spiritual awakening
the many and assorted things i can achieve
with you as my gift
the wonderful display
you make besides my bed
i like to keep you there so that i can wake
and be reminded of your complex simplicity
