Runaway

You said you always wanted
To run away
From all the demons
That you're dealing with
And all the faces that you see
Most everyday

You said you wanted
To go where no one
Knows your name
If you would have waited
I would have taken you away
Into the sun.

I would have run away with you
I would have taken you somewhere far away
I would have been your loving fool
I would have taken you where skies are never gray.

I wanted to take you hand
And just drive south
Down to warmer days
Where we could live our lives
Under sunlit skies
Where we could waste our lives away.

I would have run away with you
Would have taken you so far away
I would have been your loving fool
Till my love pushed you away
Till my love pushed you away
Till my love pushed you away

Now we're both still here, and we're miserable
Still here and miserable.
