polite and quiet, so hidden inside
concealing every emotion away
so many secrets but where to confide?
don't choose the wrong trust or someone will pay.
hiding behind my invulnerable wall
the world sees the smiling mask on my face
trust has already led to one great fall
i look so strong but i feel made of lace.
the delicate petal of a sweet rose,
thorny vines defend my vulnerable heart
so i can show the world my calm repose
no one will see how love tore me apart.
the walls of my box have started to chafe
i stretch out my hand to test if it's safe.
