Safe, I didn't need
to hold father's hand
Safe in a firestorm,
Sacrifice--accepted.
Safe, we
fed and drank.
The barnstorm tamed,
earth and air our ally

I have a barn you can storm anytime! Love all your writings. Baba8 is the best author on this site.
I found this one spare, lovely and very affectionate. Perfectly executed work. Thanks for the read.
Wonderful little poem! I did check out the definition of barnstorm. Not sure which one to use. Two of them work in this poem.
Politicians go about barnstorming in big rowdy tents and perhaps, to a child, adults going wild and screaming is some sort of firestorm, all tamed by a calming parent whose residue of strength comes from his work in the fresh air of the open fields. Maybe the firestorm destroying our economy right now?

Just a possibility, I suppose, but the poem conveyed that sense of a child's newly discovered security in a frightening world quite clearly for me.
