Sometimes it was all oil an
Optical illusion, then
thick

grey

blued-steel always
cold the

cold

touch of it warms me there were

high seas then cripple-sun
seas
misery and drizzle

lost

horizons the foul
weather closeness of men,

misery and drizzle we
had our fill our
bellies were full but Brian
bore the brunt of it, cannon

and shell stained the hammock, we
wrapped its canvas
round our dead

brother
