i went to the corner of fourth
down santa clara street
the liquor store there got closed
the drunkards who used to lie on the sidewalk
mumbling in the dead of night
and the skin-full-life-size Madonna poster
are gone
and i feel blue

Sadness...

A sadness for days now gone comes shining through in this sad poignant poem. Don't we all long for days that are no more.

Endearing little poem.
