SAND

The sea
Washes free
Loose and sliding sand
Remaking the world to its own liking.

The sand
Takes in hand
Hard and pressing waves
Accepting the work of the water’s washing.

The sea
Smiles at me
Sure and knowing smirks
A fierce force bent on its own controlling.

The sand
Seeks remand
For its futile foe
Each day, itself fully restoring.
