A cell phone in the pocket
of my faded Levi jeans
phone number on a matchbook
not sure what it means,
But I call it on a Saturday
late afternoon
you answer, sounding sleepy
when? I say soon,

It takes me 'bout an hour
to find your new address
an old trapper's cabin
not neat, but not a mess,
Wearing shorts and tee-shirt
deerskin moccasins
hair tied back casually
I review the Mortal sins,

We sit at your table
tea in hand-made mugs
when I first arrived
we exchanged tepid hugs,
A brief review of history
we compare memories
on the straight-back chair
your arms around your knees,

As we talk, the sun
drops out of sight
the tea pot is empty
It's almost Saturday night,
We consider ordering pizza
or the new Thai place in town
or running away with the circus
both dressed as a clown,

We decide we're not that hungry
'least not for food or drink
we look at each other
both ask 'what do you think?'
The full moon is rising
the planets are aligned
if we had any doubts
they would now be hard to find ...
