I Feel like I need chain
Maille for my heart;
So it doesn't get broken
Or misused anymore.

I've already had a lot
Of slings and arrows pierce
My bruised and battered heart

Words of I Love You
Easily turn to
Daggers of I Hate You
When relationships suddenly end

I don't want to wall off
My heart from tender feelings
That could blossom into love

I know the line about it
Being better to have loved and lost

But I believe that's a lie
People tell themselves so they
Have the courage or stupidity
To try once more for that
Golden ring of happiness;
Always just beyond their reach.
