Love shouldn't leave you sullied - when the sweat
makes pearls upon your breasts, upon your brow
and in your neck the downy hair is wet
and in your eyes and mind is only now,
when all your nerves and muscles form one whole
intent on that one other in our bed
and hands are at the gate and round the bole
why then allow chimeras in your head
of filth, of properness, uncalled-for thoughts
your youth instilled in you, mistaken shame?
There are no limits and there are no oughts
when we are joined in regal Venus' name:
love doesn't drag you down but lifts you higher,
a reborn phoenix, purified by fire.

elegantly constructed

your writes are growing on me, day by day. adding you to my list of favourite authors.

these, especially, are you doing what you do best:

when the sweat

makes pearls upon your breasts, upon your brow

and in your neck the downy hair is wet

and hands are at the gate and round the bole

why then allow chimeras in your head

"Perfect love...

...casteth out fear" ~ St. Paul said that, and he was right. Sacred or secular, true love leaves the lovers free to be as wanton and lustful as the depth of their devotion demands. Nothing is purer than a love free of shame and fear!

My inner lion roars,

no limit to the echoes as I watch the ground and those on it grow smaller.
