She moved against her
In flannel, faux pearl buttons
Press against her back, shivering
Against the red t-shirt with short arms rolled up
Found in bed due to a storm of violence
Needing tempering and quiescent position
Not so uncomfortable after all

Togetherness, both mastered, alone
For each other and the hint,
That need,
And desire,
May surface

Wind remained in the morning
Social coffee, eyes not meeting,
Picking up debris on the porch
From the nights flail
Then to the bed where nothing happened
They smooth the sheets, tucking
Looking at that plane where something
Could have occurred

Eyes meet, shy hand holding,
A kiss of confusion across the bed,
An expanse of possibility
Reclining to elbows and soft voice,
Now no eye contact due to closure

Huge embarrassment and submission,
Balance rules the morning as
Bank after bank of storm clouds
Move in, swirl about again
