there's a witch in the water.
snakes are swimming in her blood.
stars flow out from her sockets;
fire flickers red in the sky.

there's a witch in the mirror.
snakes are writhing in her hair.
stars rise above the forest;
fire is leaping from her eyes.

there's a witch in the river.
snakes are hiding in the reeds.
stars tumble from her nipples;
fire consumes the willow trees.

a witch dreams in the morning
of snakes lolling in her bed.
stars fall into her shadows;
fire crackles around her head.

Confused

You are capable of better writing. I wasn't sure what you wanted to say here. There is a great poem to be written about the Gorgon who couldn't look at herself in a mirror without turning to stone--how many female nightmares are there in that image? I think you are the poet who can write that. Witches are small beer. xx
