I swear there are twin sister towers in this world,
Morningstar and Meadowlark, born in the spirit

of '76, who nursed on the milkweed of time
and times and half a time,

who ate from the pot at the end
of the rainbow, who followed

the treeline to the promise
of western horizons,

who trembled with ko
conspiratorial glee,

who found their father at the leaping
weir and watched the fire

cut a swath between the heavens--

who dare not dream
what the day has become.

-----------------

ko: in the ancient game of go, a situation in which the opponant
cannot emmediately re-capture because it would recreate the global position,
and so must first make a threat elswhere.

leaping weir: a weir before an aquaduct or sewer intake to cause floodwater
to overshoot the opening.
a weir is a dam in a stream to raise its level or redirect its flow--also
a device for catching fish.
