September Rain
by Orblover
Copyright October, 2001

=============================

I wrote this to help me cleanse, yet...

=============================

She looked out the window
Wondering if the sun
Would ever shine again.

"Damn rain, go away!"
She commanded the weather gods.
Like all her gods at the moment
None seemed to be listening.

On the mantle, new decorations
Three simple brass urns.
Strange amid the pictures
  a happy family
  a formal wedding picture
  a young couple so in love
  small children beginning to grow
    not yet in school.

She looked at the mantle
at the empty urns
"Why did I let the kids go
with him to work that day?"

Outside, on this late September day
the sun shone
She looked out the window
Wondered if the rain
Would ever go away.
