Set Me Free

Set me free from the ties that bind me to this world. Allowing me to roam unobstructed in this life, seeing it for what it is. I do not want a controlled version made for reality television. Show me people as they really are not as I wish them to be. One cannot cover up their flaws; they make us who we are. Help me to see through the lies and disillusion of our everyday lives showing me the ugly truth of our existence and our pettiness. I see the injustice of our world, the blame we are willing to give, but never ready to accept. The short comings and the problems we live with cannot be covered up. They must be brought to light and addressed. It is an icy reality that we are not a loving and forgiving creature. But we are in fact greedy and thankless never happy with what we have, even if we have taken it from someone or something. The ills of the world are upon us, guide me through them so as not to disturb those who are so painfully enduring them. Bestow on me only the problems that I have created not the ones created by others. Lead me away from the hoards of self-centered minions who do only what they’re told. Lift me out of the doldrums and show me a brighter day, one filled with kindness and compassion. Teach me to be righteous and give me the strength to forgive those in my life who have made mistakes. Allow me to help without expecting anything in return, but the joy that comes from helping someone. Do not distort my importance in the scheme of things and give me the courage to just be me. It is MY job to feel good about me, please grant me the knowledge to do so. I am a simple man; let me remain so in my approach to others and make sure I give no false hopes to those around me. If perchance I am destined for greater things let me remain humble and honest for that is truly for the greater good. And grant me compassion for those who have less than I or those in need of my assistance. All these things I am capable of doing with a little reassurance and guidance and will do my best not to let anyone including myself down.
