Just beyond the peripheral
A shadow lingers
A ghost never seen
A presence felt

Its touch always surprises
It chills me
It burns me
It's never enough

The shadow becomes known
Rarely when I'm happy
Always when I'm sad
Deeply it haunts

I plea for peace
Praying the shadow stays
Hoping that it vanishes
Taking me away
