If I were a shadow
I'd follow you around
but I couldn't give you flowers
or lay you on the ground

I'd stay so close beside you
follow every pace
but I couldn't link our fingers
or touch your pretty face

I'd sooner leave your company
in times of brilliant light
to gather my resources
for the dawning of the night

a softer, melted silhouette
caressing with delight
the outline of your body
my perfect one, my twilight
