She moved her hips like she was a snake
all slippery smooth like she wanted you
she shook what her mama gave her
all you could hear was silver banging
what you didn't know was every time
her hips swung another temple fell to the ground
another incarnation of man was vanquished
in the battle of the goddess, she won

She went to Ur and took on the rebel
they fought long and hard over his soul
He was sent away with a deep scar
where once he was her devout
he shook and shivered to the ground
and tried to burn his son on the altar
of faith of the father, he was long gone

She moved her hips like she was a snake
all slippery smooth like she wanted you
she shook what her mama gave her
all you could hear was silver banging
what you didn't know was every time
her hips swung another temple fell to the ground
another incarnation of man was vanquished
in the battle of the goddess, she won

She went to the dessert and took on the brother
burned all his idols to the ground with prejudice
salt and fire built him up to a crescendo
of holy terror till he took on the cloak
of mystic and chastity against her charms
She sent him away to build a nation of teachers
who only said her name in the dark and quiet

She moved her hips like she was a snake
all slippery smooth like she wanted you
she shook what her mama gave her
all you could hear was silver banging
what you didn't know was every time
her hips swung another temple fell to the ground
another incarnation of man was vanquished
in the battle of the goddess, she won

She went to the holy of holies one day
and took on the son of her rival
She fought a battle of sins and sorrows
with the magic of a thousand eons
they challenged each other to a match
of the best of divine Thaumaturgists
and she saw him slaughtered in the temple race
of politics in the name of the light

She moved her hips like she was a snake
all slippery smooth like she wanted you
she shook what her mama gave her
all you could hear was silver banging
what you didn't know was every time
her hips swung another temple fell to the ground
another incarnation of man was vanquished
in the battle of the goddess, she won

She took on the beast and the dark
She fought the angel and the demon
She became the jackal and the bull
So she could beat this archenemy of light
Just to show her old rival she could do
What he was not able and she won
Her silver shimmered even more
From then on whenever her hips moved

She moved her hips like she was a snake
all slippery smooth like she wanted you
she shook what her mama gave her
all you could hear was silver banging
what you didn't know was every time
her hips swung another temple fell to the ground
another incarnation of man was vanquished
in the battle of the goddess, she won

Then she came for her old rival
The jealous god who wouldn't respect
Her place in the world or her temple
She showed him her whore and her virgin
Her gay priests circled her as she changed
Between the facades of a man and a woman
And drew forth a child of her own making
Her smile lit up the heavens as she killed
This usurper to her throne and lay his body
Beneath her altar in the priests' nest
Never to be heard from again

She moved her hips like she was a snake
all slippery smooth like she wanted you
she shook what her mama gave her
all you could hear was silver banging
what you didn't know was every time
her hips swung another temple fell to the ground
another incarnation of man was vanquished
in the battle of the goddess, she won

because she danced like Astarte and brought
with her the end of man's reign.
