Through recollections of unexplained loss
She finds resolve in that painful past
A memory too recent to put aside
Not enough time to release her at last

When surfaces a stranger
Wearing his smile
Willing to tread
A road grown over
It remains a path
With no clear tread
Where now even she
won’t venture too far

Then calls the stranger
She hears him whisper
With words of praise
He stumbles ahead
Where nothing is clear
In this uncharted land
Lost in a vision
of her thoughtful words

She hears him whisper
words so tempting
Offering her respite from a broken heart
Making claims that may fall short

She hears him whisper
promises too appealing
At a time when cold emptiness
Yearns for warm embrace

She hears him whisper
And wonders if the time is right
