A soft snore gets my attention.
I turn my head to see the peaceful look upon her face.
She knows not just how beautiful she is, doubting my words.
She is wrong once more.
Gazing at her in her sleep makes my heart beat faster.
Thoughts of her flash through my mind,
like lightning bolts from cloud to cloud.
My minds eye sees the pain in her eyes,
then tears fill mine as I am helpless.
I cannot stop her pain.
I can only love her.
I am but a man.
