It's so hard to be shocking when you're a fifteen year old girl
Her hair changes weekly, from bleached blonde to shocking pink
"Your hair looks nice" say her parents
Her eyelids glitter and shine, fluorescent pink, dazzling yellow, pearlescent green
framed by the most enormous false eyelashes
"Wow! You look amazing – like a drag queen" her parents gush approvingly
She slashes the necks of her T-shirts, baring an acre of cleavage
"Isn't that a bit chilly?" ask her parents kindly
Her low-slung jeans reveal leopard print underwear
"How clever – your underwear matches your shoes" volunteer her parents
"Everyone should be bisexual!" she vehemently states
"We agree" her parents proudly concur
"I wish I was a bloke!" she almost shouts
"Goodness! Why's that?" ask her parents tentatively
"Then I could wear dresses and make-up and be shocking -
It's so hard to be shocking when you're a fifteen year old girl"
