snakes struck still slithering
gators frozen sideways mid-death
roll the swamp iced over. warm
ethereal steam hovering almost
ominously over still reptilian
bliss cypress knees wooden grave
markers for the men like my father.
for girls
like my sister.
for me.

I've read this four times - always a good sign for me. I'm intrigued by the title, which is slightly disturbing. I think it works very well with the rest of the poem. Home sick/sick home? Cypress knees? Mysterious, semi-creepy and compelling.
