The night is silent, bare and worn,
And the cold is ragged, warmth is shorn.
The sky is chilled with its whispered breath,
It murmurs words that speak of death …

The night is silent, the snow does fall
In patterns that hold a forceful thrall.
Rapt in the glamour of icy view,
Motion slows, hands turn blue.

The night is silent and wears away
And nature forces all to obey
The laws that govern the world of heat …
The beating heart does not repeat.

The night is silent, through and through,
Snow falls thickly along the avenue …
A wonderland of white, sweet dignity …
Here he sits with his liberty …

I loved the lure of this poem. very gray but soft ... not as dark as it could be.. thank God! But real honest strong
